Fico [FEE-coh] simply means fig. From this simple word, a whole range of slang words has grown. A slight variation, figo [FEE-goh], means something is cool, just like American slang, or hot, like the American slang for a person who is attractive. Figata [fee-GAH-tah] is something great (the opposite of una cazzata).
